John Batter is the Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of M-GO, the people-friendliest digital entertainment service. M-GO makes it easier than ever for people to browse, rent, buy and enjoy the newest and broadest selection of movies and TV shows on the devices they choose. As CEO, he oversees the strategic direction and day-to-day operation of the company.
Prior to this role, John served as President of Production at DreamWorks Animation, where he led the Company’s worldwide production, post-production, technology and studio finance divisions. He was responsible for orchestrating thousands of artists, technologists and production resources worldwide to deliver some of the industry’s highest grossing animated films such as the Shrek, Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda franchises. During his tenure, John developed opportunities to extend the business through strategic partnerships with Consumer Electronics leaders such as Hewlett-Packard, Intel and Samsung as well as take the company into the digital realm through the launch of online communities of fans and brand advocates. John also played a pivotal role in building the 3D business worldwide with content creators, exhibitors and CE manufacturers.
John spent several at Electronic Arts (EA) where he was one of the key leaders who built EA into the world’s largest entertainment software company. As the founder and General Manager of EA Mobile, John pioneered the company’s entrance into the mobile games business, spearheading sales, marketing and product development globally. Prior to this, he was Group Studio General Manager at EA. He is credited with leading the turnaround of the Redwood Shores studio and the development of several global blockbusters, including James Bond, Lord of The Rings, Medal of Honor and Command and Conquer.
John also served as the CFO of PDI/DreamWorks and as a founding member of the start-up management team for DreamWorks Interactive, a joint venture with Microsoft. Earlier in his career John held a variety of management positions in business development, finance and planning with the Times Mirror Company, Xatrix Entertainment and Kaypro Computer Corporation. John earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley.
